Krissy McKown obtained her juris doctorate from Barry University School of Law in 2007 and comes from a distinguished South Carolina family committed to the law. Raised in Gaffney, South Carolina, Krissy attended the College of Charleston and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree of the Arts in 1995. Krissy is committed to helping South Carolinians tackle their problems.
Prior to entering the field of law, Krissy worked as an actress in many productions locally and throughout the United States. She is an avid supporter of the Arts. Krissy still is actively in local productions in the Charleston area and this year has performed at The Village Playhouse in Mount Pleasant and the Charleston Acting Studio in Charleston, among others. Keep an eye out for her starring in theatre productions around town.
As a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem, Krissy has undergone over thirty hours of volunteer training. She made this sacrifice of her time and energy in order to give a voice to children who otherwise would not be heard. Krissy represents children in Charleston County Family Court and does not shy away from more difficult cases.
In addition to her love of acting, Krissy and her husband Michael have rescued many miniature dachshunds over the years with varying disabilities. Currently six miniature dachshunds are part of their family, and one, Norman, has even been featured in the local newspapers when he and Krissy starred in the musical theatre production of Little City Caberet at the Footlight Players Theatre during the 2009 Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
