The federal government has amended Regulation Z, which applies to credit cards and Truth in Lending, effective February 22, 2010.  The rule makes several changes to the way credit card companies may act:  (1) limits are placed on when a lender can apply increased interest rates or fees to existing balanaces.  Generally, interest rates cannot be increased the first year the account is open; an increase can apply to new transactions if 45 days notice has been given.(2) cannot open a new account....... Read more >>
